Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently expressed concern after noticing a sudden drop of nearly 90,000 followers on his X account over the last 15 days. Sharing the screenshot on his social media handle, Kher tagged Elon Musk and asked if the massive reduction was connected to any ongoing cleanup or technical update happening on the platform.
Clarifying that his post was purely an observation and not a complaint, Kher wrote, “Dear Mr Elon Musk, I have lost more than 90,000 followers in the last 15 days. Will you know the reason? Or anybody in your team? This is an observation, not a complaint yet.”
As the conversation grew, fans also joined in, sharing their thoughts. Some users went ahead and asked Grok, the AI assistant on X, about the sudden drop in follower count.
Responding to the query, Grok explained that X has been removing fake, bot, and dormant accounts to maintain platform authenticity. The AI further stated that many celebrities have experienced the same, including Justin Bieber who reportedly lost nearly 20 million followers, and Cristiano Ronaldo who saw a drop of around 9 million followers.
Grok added that Anupam Kher’s follower drop is likely due to this large-scale cleanup initiative rather than any personal or account-specific issue.
